Message from David Bartlett MP
The state election result was an important one for the Australian Labor Party and for the people of Tasmania. The outcome delivered a strong message to the government and it was clear that a new collaborative way forward was required.
There are opportunities and challenges for our state in the years ahead and it is vital that we have a strong State Labor Government. Our collaborative approach to cabinet will help us to meet those challenges and make the most of the opportunities on offer.
I have committed this Labor Government to focusing on creating jobs, ensuring a quality health system and providing a decent education for all Tasmanians. I want our economy to be as diverse as possible with support and growth in traditional industries but with a strong focus on the future.
Tasmanians have entrusted us with a responsibility to manage the state well. Labor's proven economic management of the Tasmanian economy means that we can keep building the things that are the core of a fair Tasmania.
Tasmania has a bright future ahead of it but only a Labor government can get the balance right between continuing to build a stronger economy and shaping a fairer future.

Message from Julia Gillard
I am truly honoured to lead this country which I love. I believe in a Government that rewards those who work the hardest. The people who play by the rules, set their alarms early, get their kids off to school, stand by their neighbours and love their country. I believe fundamentally that the basic education and health services that Australians rely on and their decent treatment at work is at risk at the next election. I love this country and won't sit idly by and watch Tony Abbott cut education, cut health and smash rights at work. I lead a strong and responsible Government that will take control of our future. A strong and responsible Government improving and protecting the essential public services and basic rights our people depend on, including so importantly, their rights To do even more to make sure that every child gets a fair go in life and a great education. It is my intention to lead a Government that does more to harness the wind and the sun and the new emerging technologies, because I believe in climate change. Can I say to the Australian people there will be some days I delight you; there may be some days I disappoint you. On every day, I will be working my absolute hardest for you.
